Dragon

After arguing for ten minutes about who would be the lookout, it was finally decided that Ranger would keep watch while Dragon and Brute snuck into Alito’s house.

Ranger, being a military veteran, believed he had skills that would come in handy when breaking into and searching Alito’s home. He wasn’t wrong.

Dragon had suggested Brute be lookout, but the man gave him the most comical you’ve-got-to-be-shitting-me look, which he followed up by saying, “If you think I’m going to hang around out here… me… a very large, black man… in a rich as fuck neighborhood… late at night, you’re asking for my ass to be arrested. It doesn’t matter that my investment portfolio and savings could buy half the block. Any of these neighbors catch a glimpse of me, they’re calling the blue and you fucking know it.” He also wasn’t wrong, because people were racist pieces of shit.

There was no way Dragon was sitting out. He took this mission personally, after listening to Harlow’s story straight from her. But even if he didn’t, he looked like a crazy man with his hair and beard and intimidating stare. The neighbors would call on him as quickly as they’d call on Brute.

Once he pointed that out to Ranger, the man gave a sigh and a nod, accepting that the only option they had was for him to be their eyes. His skills at only being seen only when he wanted to be would be used instead of clearing a house and doing a search.

Dragon made a note to next time bring one of the brothers who could blend into a neighborhood like the one they were working in. Unfortunately, the number of brothers who could do that was extremely low. Keys, maybe. Even with the three of them leaving their cuts back at the hotel, two of them stuck out like sore thumbs.

It was about twenty minutes before midnight and just like Dragon heard from one of the bodyguards, while he was trailing them earlier, Alito had just left for a late night meeting.

They had debated whether to go to the meeting or search the house. Dragon was sure they could gather plenty of information from the meeting, but he was also sure there would be more meetings, and he wasn’t sure when they would get another perfect chance to search the house. He was pretty sure one else would be in the house, but if he was wrong, they would deal with it.

This time, Dragon went around back to the French doors, Brute on his heels. He wasn't stupid enough to assume Alito didn't arm the alarm when he left the house empty, but he was hoping. Either way, he wasn't concerned. It would take time they didn't want to waste, but he could override the alarm if he had to. Wearing gloves like Brute, Dragon crouched down, pulling the lock pick set from his pocket at the same time, and got to work. Less than thirty seconds later, they were in, and Dragon was working on the alarm override.
